Always Get More - StandardsCharter Homes named Leader in Green Home Building

We are proud to announce that the Environmental Protection Agency named Charter Homes a 2011 ENERGY STAR® Leadership in Housing Award winner. This award recognizes builders who promote energy efficient construction and help to protect the environment through their partnership with ENERGY STAR®.

Charter Homes Energy Star - TerraParkHere at Charter Homes, we qualify every home we build to the ENERGY STAR® standard, which was established by the EPA. Since 2008, Charter Homes has built hundreds of ENERGY STAR® certified homes in Central Pennsylvania. ENERGY STAR® qualified homes are 20-30% more energy-efficient than standard homes and save homeowners thousands of dollars over the lifetime of their loan.

Going Beyond Green
Recently, Charter Homes launched a Beyond ENERGY STAR® program, which takes the efficiency of a Charter Home beyond the requirements of ENERGY STAR®. To be ENERGY STAR® Certified, a home has to have a Home Energy Rating System of 85 or lower. All Charter homes average 74 or lower due to the highly efficient furnace and HVAC system, 2′x6′ exterior construction and double paned, Low-E windows.

Charter Homes Energy Star - LogoAbout ENERGY STAR®
ENERGY STAR® is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. Results are already adding up. Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR®, saved enough energy in 2010 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 33 million cars — all while saving nearly $18 billion on their utility bills.

We are proud to offer new homes that have earned the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR® qualified new homes are substantially more energy efficient than homes built to the minimum code requirements. Our ENERGY STAR® qualified new homes are independently verified by a third-party Home Energy Rater to ensure they meet ENERGY STAR® energy efficiency guidelines. These homes are better for the environment and better for you.
